Interactive Web Experience Design Concept
Harry Potter & The Half-Blood Prince: The Videogame
Design Concept for an interactive experience of the official website for the Harry Potter & The Half-Blood Prince: The Videogame by Electronic Arts.
EA Games requested a design concept for their next Harry Potter videogame, The Half-Blood Prince. They wanted something that was still visually rich and creative but with the content very easy to find. They were after more of a portal approach that targeted young fans of the series.
I created a portal- based design that easily delivers the content of the site up-front to the visitor, but still with hidden content to be discovered by the hardcore fans who could spend the time to explore the website. Hidden objects can be found within each section by interacting with the various graphic elements for each content, and it can be collected in the visitor's Collection book. The Collection area is where a discovered object is saved and can be used to view hidden content linked to each object, or even to interact objects with each other in order to discover more content. For example, collected ingredients can be used together to create magical potions that give you bonus content. The recipes for potion making can be found within the book of the Half-Blood Prince which is also included in the visitor's collection area. The book also shows a ripped recipe page that is missing which can be discovered into external website's, taking the experience further on the web.
